Welcome to Laura Hughes Therapies

Hello, thanks for stopping by. I’m Laura, and I’m a counsellor, creative therapist, Reiki practitioner, and intuitive artist, working from Hanbury in Worcestershire and online.

I offer counselling, creative therapy, reiki, and intuitive art-based work, including spiritual art readings and psychic mediumship, to support people through times of anxiety, grief, stress, life change, and periods of feeling lost or unsure.

I have over 10 years’ experience as a qualified counsellor, and I am a Reiki Master Practitioner and teacher, as well as a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), the UK Reiki Federation, and the Creative Counsellors Community.

How I work

My work is present, human, and really quite simple. When we sit together, I meet you where you are. I notice your pace, your energy, and the way you naturally are in yourself, and I work with that, to help you feel seen, safe, and understood.

It’s completely ok (and normal!) to not know what to say or where to start. We don’t need to rush anything. We can sit with what is already here, and move at a pace that feels safe for you, dipping a toe in the water, and stepping back out again, moving with the ebb and flow of your feelings.

Over time, as trust builds, something often begins to shift. People tend to speak more freely and more honestly, and things that have been held in for a long time can start to find space to be expressed. From there, there is a gradual returning, to yourself, your truth, and a way of living that feels more aligned with who you really are.

Where to start

People come to me in many different places in their lives. Sometimes things feel heavy, overwhelming, or difficult to carry. Sometimes there is a sense of being in-between, not in crisis, but not quite settled either, as though something is shifting beneath the surface. And sometimes there is simply a feeling of wanting more connection, more expression, or more of themselves back in their life.

Any therapeutic or healing journey can involve many emotions, from darkness, despair, or stuckness, through confusion, pain, and trauma, to moments of curiosity, revelation, hope, and joy. I believe that real healing means exploring the shadows as well as the light, and that this process is rarely a direct path.

Sometimes it can be hard to know where you are in yourself, or what kind of support you might need. If you’re not sure where you are right now, let’s begin there.

A homely place for community

Fulfilling a life-long dream, you can now find me at my own little craft unit at The Jinney Ring, in Hanbury.

This is a safe, cosy, and homely space where I offer counselling, reiki, creative therapy, art groups, and intuitive art-based sessions, alongside my small art and wellbeing shop. It is also a place where you can send and receive letters as part of the Sunday Letters Project.

On Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays I work with one-to-one clients. On Saturdays the space opens more widely, and you are welcome to visit the shop, explore what I offer, or enquire in person about sessions and commissions.
