Hello, and welcome to Laura Hughes Therapies, formerly Ember Counselling. My name is Laura Hughes; I’m a fully qualified, experienced counsellor, and holistic, creative therapist based in Droitwich Spa. I’m a Registered Member (MBACP) of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and an Associate Member of the UK Reiki Federation (UKRF). I also offer online counselling and telephone counselling for those who wish to work remotely. And I run an art group called ‘Art Space’ for creativity, community and self-care.

I hope to offer a range of services to you, that bring therapy and healing to the many aspects of what makes you you.

You may be feeling daunted about the prospect of contacting someone. Perhaps you’re unsure about what to expect or what to look for in a counsellor. Everyone is different, so why not meet me for a free, no obligation, initial meeting either at my therapy room in Droitwich Spa or online, or by telephone to talk through your situation. My counselling room is a beautifully calming and comfortable space, and being based in the heart of Worcestershire makes it easily accessible to visitors throughout the county.

I have over 10 years of experience supporting people through short-term crises and long-term issues such as depression, anxiety, bereavement and stress, and have developed a counselling approach which is calm, gentle and accepting but also exploratory and engaging. I work with individual adults aged 18 and up. I also provide supervision for counsellors and other professionals.

More recently, I have trained in Usui reiki which is a holistic complementary therapy that can bring a sense of calm, relaxation and increased wellbeing. This can be used as a stand-alone therapy, or in conjunction with counselling, according to your needs. I will begin offering appointments for people from May 2024. Pets can also benefit from reiki, and I hope to be able to offer reiki for animals in the next few months.

You may also be interested in ‘Art Space‘. A place to come and be creative and create art with likeminded people. It’s a social, creative group, but is not Art Therapy. I hope to be able to offer more workshops and groups in the future that have more of a therapeutic focus.
