Hello! And welcome to my first EVER newsletter. Thank you so much for subscribing to receive these regular updates! It’s lovely to have you here. Along with my monthly newsletter, you’ll also be the first to hear about new blog posts, events and important dates for your diary.
The past few months have been a very exciting time here at Laura Hughes Therapies. In fact, over the last year, and especially the last six months, opportunities have come my way that I truly never would have imagined when I first started my practice back in 2014.
So in this newsletter, I’d love to share some of those updates with you, as well as what’s coming up in May 2026.
Welcome to Spring

Ah, at last. There is blossom in the trees, sunshine and blue skies, and a feeling of the world coming back to life. This photo is from right outside the backdoor of my house: many would see these as weeds and unwanted intruders but I look down and see a beautiful, tiny rainforest. I can see wild strawberry, violets, dandelions, and many more that I don’t know the names of. Whether or not we value something can be a matter of perspective.
Something I’ve been contemplating lately is how I value my own life experiences, and the place where that sits in my body. I’m very aware of a place I have labelled ‘dark’ and another I have labelled ‘light’ due to the different energies that they carry within me. And to be honest, the ‘light’ part has been very appealing – it’s where I feel optimistic, creative, happy even. I’ve been aware of pushing the ‘dark’ part away as I have learnt to associate it with pain. The ‘dark’ part of me has carried a lot over the years: all my heaviest emotions and the sacrifices I have made, and all the emotional-heavy-lifting in my therapy work. Is it any wonder it doesn’t feel light and fluffy? But it is also full of richness, like fertile soil. That part is where so much wisdom, life experience, and creative fuel comes from. It’s the part of me that learnt empathy and compassion, and how to hold a safe space for others: it’s all a matter of perspective.
I’ve been inspired to resolve this dichotomy within me, by the story of Persephone. So much so that you’ll now find my website organised around the themes of Underworld, Threshold, and Spring. Persephone is the Queen of the Underworld, AND the Goddess of Spring: never feel limited! There’s a whole universe inside you to be explored, and many ways that we can work together to do this.
Highlights round-up
Join me for a quick tour of some recent highlights – and oh my, there have been some big ones in recent times.
New Therapy Room!

In February 2026 I felt like I won the lottery as I was accepted to be the new tenant of Unit 1 at the Jinney Ring in Hanbury. I’ve been dreaming of having my own little craft shop or studio here since I was little and I feel so fortunate for this to be the new home of my therapy room/creative space. It’s such a peaceful, light-filled room, and it’s a multi-functional space where I can host one-to-one counselling and reiki, as well as art groups and Reiki & Relax sessions. I also have a little shop here where I sell my own artwork and wellbeing gifts, as well as some second-hand books.
I’m in a book!

On April 16th, Awakening Voices was released! Curated by international medium and bestselling author, Hannah Macintyre, you can find my story in Chapter 2, ‘Art, Auras & Angels,’ where I explore my journey with Spirit. It’s a wonderful book, filled with stories from 17 Spirit Social creators, all telling their unique life journeys with all its ups and downs. If you’d like to order a copy, I have a few available to pick up in-person at my Jinney Ring studio, or you can order from Amazon here: https://amzn.eu/d/0hBz4YI5
As if this wasn’t mind-blowing enough, I was also interviewed by Hannah Macintyre for her Mediumship Matters podcast, which you can watch on Youtube here: My Interview on Mediumship Matters (available in all places you get your podcasts).
Honestly, I don’t know how all this has happened! 😅

Final Thoughts

Life can feel really uncertain, especially in the times that we’re living in. Lord of the Rings has been a comfort film (and book) for me since my teens, and this is my favourite quote, that I always return to: ‘all we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.’
Whether it’s choosing to leave the ‘weeds’ where they are because you like them, saying yes to a new opportunity, choosing to rest instead of push forward, think about what you can control or influence in your own little corner of the world. Every time we make decisions that are aligned with our true self, this has a ripple effect on the people and world around us.
There is a place for you and all you have to offer the world. If you need a little help finding your inner compass, or refocusing your perspective, then drop me a message and we’ll begin figuring it out together.
Take care,
Laura
