Thank you for volunteering for a practice reading and for helping me develop my skills. These sessions are an opportunity for me to practise, explore and build confidence in a safe, supportive, respectful (and fun!) environment.
Please take a moment to read the following ground rules before booking.
The purpose of the session
It is important to say that practice readings are not a free version of a professional reading. They have a specific function as a safe learning environment. These readings are primarily for my practice, learning and development. By volunteering, you are helping me gain experience, explore my abilities and learn through the process.
Although we may explore interesting, meaningful or thought-provoking information together, these sessions are not professional readings, and there is no guarantee that specific information will come through.
My learning journey and approach
I am self-aware and have a good understanding of my own learning needs and the areas I wish to develop. I take responsibility for my own growth and will seek guidance or feedback when I feel it is appropriate and helpful.
These practice readings are an opportunity for me to explore, experiment and develop my skills in an atmosphere of lightness, joy, curiosity and excitement. I want to enjoy the process, and I hope that you do too! I follow what comes through and learn naturally through experience.
I welcome an open, relaxed and engaging exchange with my sitter. You are very welcome to share in the curiosity and excitement of the reading and explore what comes through with me.
An important part of my journey is learning to trust my own process, quieten my inner critic and allow myself the freedom to make mistakes without turning every experience into an assessment of my abilities.
My learning space and boundaries
Please allow me to lead the reading in my own way and at my own pace. I may get things wrong, misunderstand information or be unsure of what I am receiving. This is a normal and necessary part of learning.
I am not looking for my sitters to teach, mentor, coach or evaluate me. I will take the lead in my own learning and development. Please respect that this is my practice space. Unsolicited coaching, criticism, suggestions about how I should conduct the reading, or advice about developing my skills are not part of the session.
Feedback and evaluation
These sessions are for practice rather than assessment. Please do not offer unsolicited feedback, criticism or evaluations of the reading, including comments about whether the information was accurate, specific or relevant, unless asked.
I will ask for feedback when I feel it would be helpful to my development. Until then, I ask that you respect the purpose of the session and allow me to practise without feeling evaluated. I have to be explicit about this, as unsolicited advice can be unnecessarily damaging.
The intention is for us to enjoy the experience together, with openness and curiosity, rather than for the reading to become a performance review.
Your role as a sitter
You are welcome to share relevant information when I ask questions or invite your input. Please allow me to complete the reading without testing me, steering the session or redirecting the focus towards your own interpretations or expectations.
I hope we can share an enjoyable and engaging experience, exploring what comes through with openness and curiosity. Your role is to participate in that experience and support my practice, rather than to direct or assess it.
Personal responsibility and discernment
Please use your own judgement and discernment throughout the reading. Anything shared should be treated as exploratory and open to interpretation, rather than as established fact or absolute truth. You are responsible for deciding what, if anything, resonates with you. Please do not feel obliged to accept or act upon anything that is said during the session.
Is a practice reading right for you?
Please bear in mind that these sessions are offered primarily to support my learning and development. Although we may explore interesting, meaningful or thought-provoking information together, this is not a professional reading or a substitute for one.
If you are looking for a professional reading, seeking answers to pressing personal questions, or hoping for guidance and reassurance about a difficult situation in your life, these practice sessions may not be the right fit for you.
If you are experiencing a difficult time or need support with personal challenges, please seek appropriate support from someone qualified to help. While I will always aim to approach each session with kindness and respect, I cannot guarantee that a practice reading will meet your personal or emotional needs.
Please volunteer because you are genuinely happy to support someone else’s learning, with an open mind and without the expectation of receiving a professional service in return.
No professional advice
These readings are for practice and personal exploration only. They are not therapy, counselling, diagnosis or a substitute for qualified professional support. Nothing shared should be relied upon as medical, mental health, legal, financial or other professional advice. Please consult an appropriately qualified professional for guidance in these areas.
Respectful conduct
Mutual respect is essential. I reserve the right to pause or end a session if the agreed boundaries are not respected or if the session no longer feels appropriate or constructive.
Cancellations and non-attendance
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel, so that the space can be offered to someone else.
If you fail to attend without notice, you will not be offered further complimentary practice sessions.
Thank you
Thank you for volunteering your time and for helping me create a positive space in which I can practise, explore and develop.
I look forward to sharing these experiences with people who are happy to approach them with openness, curiosity, kindness and a sense of fun.
